Peggy Boemmel, CPA, joined Baltimore Medical System as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in December 2019, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and a strong track record of financial leadership in the healthcare sector.
With over 30 years of experience in healthcare finance and operational management, Peggy has built a reputation as a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the complex financial landscape of health systems. Her career has been marked by a commitment to financial stewardship, sustainability, and supporting the delivery of quality care to underserved populations.
Before joining Baltimore Medical System, Peggy served for 25 years in a senior leadership role at a $105 million health system based in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This multifaceted organization provided a broad spectrum of services—including acute medical care, long-term acute services, behavioral health treatment, residential care, and outpatient services—to a historically underserved and socioeconomically challenged community. During her tenure, Peggy played a key role in shaping the financial strategy and infrastructure of the organization, helping to maintain operational stability while navigating the evolving demands of healthcare delivery and regulatory compliance.
Her extensive experience has equipped her with a strong foundation in budgeting, financial reporting, revenue cycle management, and long-term financial planning. At Baltimore Medical System, Peggy applies this expertise to oversee all aspects of the organization’s financial operations. She leads initiatives to strengthen financial performance, improve efficiencies, and ensure the responsible allocation of resources in support of BMS’s mission to provide accessible, affordable, and high-quality care to the communities it serves.
