Baltimore Medical System Celebrates the Launch of Two New Programs

August 26, 2024 / Liz Kaylor

In August, Baltimore Medical System (BMS) introduced two new initiatives aimed at enhancing health outcomes during pregnancy and early childhood.

The CenteringPregnancy® program, developed by the Centering Healthcare Institute, brings together 8-10 pregnant women with similar due dates to receive prenatal care in a supportive group setting. Each group participates in 10 prenatal visits, which include private exams with a provider as well as group discussions, activities, and educational sessions. Expecting mothers receive guidance and support on topics such as nutrition, stress management, labor and delivery, breastfeeding, and infant care.

Many participants in CenteringPregnancy® continue with the CenteringParenting® program, which focuses on well-child care during the first two years of life. This includes health assessments, immunizations, developmental screenings, and support for the mothers’ health.

At an event hosted at Yard 56, BMS offered tours of the facility and the dedicated centering rooms where the programs will be held.

WBAL-TV provided an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the center’s opening.
