Shirley Sutton, president and CEO of Baltimore Medical System, was featured in an article about the Medicaid business in Maryland.
In 2014, the eligibility for Medicaid was expanded under the Affordable Care Act, encouraging a significant boost in patient enrollment. However, in 2015, patients were required to re-enroll but many didn’t due to lack of awareness about the requirement and complications with the new online enrollment system. Many of Baltimore Medical System’s patients have Medicaid insurance and were affected by the re-enrollment issue.
Shirley Sutton was interviewed about this challenge, its affect on patients and local healthcare organizations, and what the community needs to do to prevent the same thing from happening in the future. Click here to read the article. Note: subscription may be required.
