Making a Donation

The gift of good health

When you make a donation to Baltimore Medical System, you’re giving a gift to the community

Baltimore Medical System is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to improving the health and wellness of medically underserved communities in the Greater Baltimore area. While the Affordable Care Act has led to healthcare coverage for many of our patients, still about 30% of the care we provide is not covered by health insurance providers. We count on grants and donations to fund the basic healthcare costs that aren’t covered, along with added services that make the greatest impact in the economically challenged communities we serve. This includes school-based healthcare, prescription delivery, translation services, behavioral health, home visits and more.

With high-quality healthcare delivered by board-certified physicians, we care for the entire person and even entire families. We create a medical home for our patients where they feel comfortable seeing us for something acute, like a sore throat, and for long-term care, like treating diabetes and preventing heart disease. We can be their single source for convenient, comprehensive care that strengthens people and strengthens communities.

Better healthcare for the populations we serve means better lives for all Marylanders. For example, vaccinations prevent the spread of communicable diseases, addiction treatment makes all of our communities safer, disease prevention reduces healthcare expenses for employers and the state and affordable care delivered in community health centers keeps emergency rooms clear for the true emergencies. Your donation makes a difference to all of us.

There Are Several Ways to Make a Gift

Annual Giving

Two to three times per year, we like to reach out to previous donors and supporters that have a strong interest in the work we do. We welcome donations at any time though, and encourage your support in any of the following ways:

Cash or Equities

You can make a gift of cash, stocks or bonds. Gifts of appreciated stocks qualify for an immediate tax deduction based on the market value and the avoidance of capital gains taxes that would result from their sale.

Your Employer’s Matching Gifts Program

Some employers will match your gift amount, doubling the total donation. Ask your human resources or benefits manager.

Donations of Charitable Assets

We accept antique cars, artwork, antiques, jewelry, coin collections and precious metals.

Donations of Real Estate

You can donate a residential or commercial property now or at the time of your death and we will handle the sale.

We now have a new giving society, the President’s Circle, for those who make gifts of $1,000 or more. We accept cash, checks, and donation made by credit cards.

Leave a Legacy

You can help even after you are gone. For example, make Baltimore Medical System the beneficiary of your life insurance policy. Bequest cash, stocks, bonds or personal property to Baltimore Medical System through your will. To make your gift last, create an endowment set to make a donation each year.
