Jenene Washington, M.D., is a board-certified pediatrician who serves as Chief Medical Officer for Baltimore Medical System. Dr. Washington attended Spelman College in Atlanta, Ga., where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry (magna cum laude). She went on to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where she obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree in 1999. During her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital at Sinai in Baltimore, Md., Dr. Washington developed a passion for working with patients in underserved communities. She started her career at Park West Health System, Inc., an FQHC in Baltimore. During her tenure there she became the Chief of Pediatrics and championed childhood obesity improvement strategies, asthma management, as well as childhood literacy programs. Dr. Washington obtained a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in health care from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. At Baltimore Medical System, Dr. Washington has served as Associate Chief Medical Officer, Director of Patient Centered Services and now Chief Medical Officer. In this role, she leads the effort to transform each practice into highly functioning patient-centered medical homes by developing true patient care teams that enhance care management activities, monitor patient engagement, monitor healthcare quality and improve communication among the healthcare team.
